March 17, 2018 00:00:00

Anti-quota protesters demanded on Friday withdrawal of the cases filed against 700 unidentified demonstrators on charges of vandalising government vehicles by today (Saturday), reports UNB.

They also threatened to initiate tougher movement if the cases are not withdrawn within the stipulated time.

Mohammad Rashed, co-convener of "Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad", came up with the demand at a press conference in front of the central library of Dhaka University in the afternoon.

"We strongly condemned it and demand withdrawal of the false and fabricated cases by Saturday next", he said.

On Wednesday, police sued 700 unknown students, who took part in the demonstration against the quota system of government jobs in the Shahbagh area, for obstructing law enforcers' duty, vandalising government vehicles and creating public suffering by blocking roads.

Meanwhile, The children of freedom fighters protested on Friday the anti-quota movement of job-seekers saying that those who are demanding reformation of quota system are against the ideology of the Liberation War in 1971.
