Appellate Division gets two new judges -

Two judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court have been elevated to the Appellate Division, raising the number of judges in the apex court to seven.

The judges are: Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Farah Mahbub.

The President has appointed them to the apex court, exercising his power under Article 95(1) of the Constitution, according to a notification issued by the Law Ministry on Monday.

The appointment will come into effect immediately, said the notification.

Meanwhile, another notification issued on the day by the Supreme Court Registrar General Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan said that newly appointed apex court judges will take oath at 10.30 am today (Tuesday). Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed will administer the oath at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge.
