Armed gang opens fire on car of businessman in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 29: Armed miscreants attacked a businessman at Hathazari in Chattogram on Wednesday. The armed gang opened fire on the car of the businessman during the attack.

Sources said the victim named SM Shahidullah Rony was returning to his home in Raozan from Chattogram city in his car when two men on a motorcycle threw bricks at the vehicle, forcing him to stop. The attackers then fired four shots at the rear side of the car before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place at around 12am in the Rahimpur Charabottola area on the Hathazari-Raozan road under Mekhal union.

The victim subsequently filed a case with Hathazari Model Police Station against 10 to 12 unidentified persons. Police said the investigation was going on to identify those behind the attack.

According to police, Rony is involved with real-estate and brick kiln business. Preliminary investigation has found that he had disputes with several individuals and groups in Raozan.
