Balanced dev govt's ultimate goal: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Thursday the ultimate goal of the government is to ensure the overall balanced development of the country to change the fate of its people, reports UNB.

"Our utmost goal is to ensure overall development of the country and for that the government has planned various development programmes since we have come to power," she said this while inaugurating a flood control and drainage system project in Noakhali to remove water-logging through a videoconference from her official residence Ganobhaban.

The prime minister said since assuming power the government is working tirelessly for uplifting the socioeconomic status of the country and change the fate of people.

"The government is making constant efforts for the development of the country and steps are being taken in this regard," she added. Talking about the flood control and drainage system project in Noakhali, the prime minister said the project would improve water drainage system in Noakhali district and control the intrusion of silts and saline water during tidal surge.
