Banana vendor dies as truck hits him in city

A banana vendor died after he was struck by a truck in the city, reports bdnews24.com.

The incident took place in the capital's Dhaka's Bijoy Sarani area at 6:30pm on Monday, according to Jane Alam Munshi, chief of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

The victim was identified as Fatu Mia, 50, who used to sell bananas on his rickshaw-van at Mohammadpur.

He was seriously injured when a truck hit his van in the Bijoy Sarani area, said the OC.

Mia was declared dead at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Police seized the truck, but the driver fled the scene.

Mia hailed from Kishoreganj's Astagram village and used to live at Mohammadpur with his wife and three children.
