Bangladesh missions abroad will chalk out a two-year plan to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of the country's independence, reports UNB.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has written a letter to all the heads of missions abroad and given necessary directives in this regard, said the ministry of foreign affairs on Sunday.

He asked the missions to work out the plan to celebrate the two mega events through organising meetings, seminars, exhibitions and fairs.

Dr Momen said the nation will celebrate the 100-year birth anniversary of the Greatest Bangalee of all time Bangabandhu in 2020 and golden jubilee of the independence after one year in 2021.

He said the government has decided to celebrate the two occasions abroad as well considering deep respect and huge interest worldwide towards Bangabandhu and progress made so far in line with implementation of Bangabandhu's dream.

In his letter to the missions, the foreign minister also mentioned that the ministry will take all the proposals to be sent by the missions with due importance.

By 2021, Bangladesh expect to be an upper middle-income country and by 2023, the country expects the GDP growth rate to be increased to 10 per cent by realising the goals of the Awami League 2018 Election Manifesto - "Bangladesh on the March Towards Prosperity".

Finally, by 2041, Bangladesh wants to be a developed country.
