Bangladesh-Sweden to launch translation project

As a follow-up literary exchange with Litteracentrums Uppsala and the Swedish Writers Union with Bangladesh, publishing house Journeyman Books in connection with its presence at the Gothenburg Book Fair 2018 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a translation and publication project with Litteracentrums and Study Promotion Association at its Uppsala office on 02 October, says a press release.

Through this initiative literary communities in Sweden and Bangladesh will mark the 50 years of our independence through translation and publication.

As part of this agreement Journeyman Books in collaboration with its Swedish partners will publish a documentation publication on news reports, articles, photos and editorials about the Liberation War of Bangladesh in the Nordic media.

Anthologies of modem Swedish and Bengali poetry in new translation, UNESCO Intangible Heritage from Bangladesh will also be included.

A documentation of the Mother Language Movement 1952, an anthology of children literature from Bangladesh, selected writings of Lalon Shah in English and Swedish translation will comprise the project.
