BB DD goes missing

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Director (DD) Nayeem Rahman has been missing and remaining out of contact after he left his office on Sunday.

Mr Rahman attended his office as usual on Sunday morning and left the office, leaving behind his bag and ID card.

At 12:53 pm, a message was sent from his device to a colleague, requesting help to arrange a job for his younger sister, adding, "this may be my last wish." Currently, there is no information available whether he had sent the message, or had been forced to do so. Mr Rahman's mobile was last tracked in Syedabad area of Dhaka at 12:53 PM on Sunday.

Police said since then, there has been no trace of him and they are investigating the possible route he had taken based on mobile location data.

A general diary has been filed regarding his disappearance.

"We are all searching for Nayeem. He is the only male member of his family. His mother, wife, daughter, and younger sister are waiting for him, said President of the Bangladesh Bank Officers' Welfare Council and Additional Director Masum Billah.
