BGB-BSF border talks begin in New Delhi today

A four-day director general-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India's Border Security Force (BSF) will begin in New Delhi, India today (Monday), reports UNB.

A 13-member Bangladesh delegation led by BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui will attend the conference, said Mohammad Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer at the BGB Headquarters.

The Bangladesh delegation will also include senior BGB officials, representatives from the Office of the Chief Adviser, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Land Records and Survey, and the Joint Rivers Commission.

The conference will discuss various issues including prevention of shooting, killing, injuring, detention or abduction of unarmed Bangladeshi nationals along the border; curbing the smuggling of drugs, arms, ammunition, and other contraband items India to Bangladesh.
