BGB nab man with 20 gold bars

BENAPOLE, Mar 20 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected gold smuggler along with 20 gold bars from Amrakhali area here on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Jikrul Islam, 40, son of Alek Mollah, hailing from Lohagara Upazila of Narail.
Lt Col Salim Reja, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said a BGB team conducted a drive around 11:00 am acting on a tip-off and arrested Jikrul.
"The seized bars are worth an estimated Tk 11.5 million," he said. "Jikrul was trying to smuggle them to India".
