BGB recover 20 gold bars in Benapole

BENAPOLE, Feb 16 (UNB): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 20 pieces of gold bars from Dhannokhola bordering area on Friday morning.

Acting on secret information that gold bars will be smuggled into India, a BGB patrol team raided the area, said Lt Col Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB battalion-49.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, smugglers fled the scene leaving the packet of gold bars, he said.

A case was filed with Beanpole Port Police Station. None was arrested in this connection and the gold bars were deposited to Benapole Customs House, he added.
