BGB regains 75 bighas of land from India

CHUADANGA, July 6 (BSS):  Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-6 Battalion have regained possession of 75 bighas of Bangladeshi land from India at Benipur out post by the side of Bangladesh-India border demarcation pillar no-61 under Jibannagar upazila of the district.

The land was under the possession of India for last 65 years.

BGB-6 Battalion sources said the land was regained on Saturday noon.

The BGB members, after taking possession of the land hoisted red flags there.

Earlier, correspondences took place between BGB and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) top official level in this connection.

At the time of taking possession of the land BGB-6 Battalion director stationed at Chuadanga Lt Col. SM Moniruzzaman, Major Anwar Zahid of the same battalion, Abu Sayed, additional deputy commissioner (Revenue), Chuadanga, Ayesha Sultana, vice-Chairman, Jibannagar upazila parisad and Kamal Hossain, assistant commissioner, land, Jibannagar were present, among others.

BGB sources said the people of India were in possession of the land since 1949.
