Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (BJKS) defended on Monday its road crash report claiming it to be authentic, reports UNB.

Earlier on Sunday, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry claimed that the report of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity stating that a total of 339 people were killed in road accidents across the country during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays was not authentic.

In a press statement, the passengers' welfare platform said Monday that the report was part of the regular work of Jatri Kalyan Samity that has been doing so since 2015 and acquired acclamation of different social communities.

"We want to clearly state that the report was authentic, reliable, real picture of the incidents.

We never publish report by enhancing or reducing numbers to confuse people, all the necessary cautions and inspections were done for making the report", it said.

It also contested such claim that the organisation is not a registered one. It said Jatri Kalyan Samity is a registered body.

The body said, "We want to firmly state that we will be working for the interest of 160 million (16 crore) people of the country uncompromisingly. And seek support of government, related ministry, media and people of the country."
