BMA demands workplace safety for physicians

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 21: Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chattogram district branch protested the murder of its member Dr Mohammed Shah Alam.
Dr Alam was killed by miscreants when he was returning from port city to his home at Mirerswari on Thursday night last.
The BMA leaders also demanded safety at workplace for physicians.
BMA Chattogram branch held a rally at the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) premises this afternoon. The rally was led by Dr Mujibul Haque, president of the district BMA. The leaders of BMA said that Dr Shah Alam served abroad for last 29 years and came back home for medical support of his village people, but the miscreants killed him brutally.
The BMA leaders demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Dr Shah Alam.
Among others, Principal of CMC Professor Selim Jahangir, Vice Principal Professor Nasir Uddin Mahamud, Principal of Chattogram Ma O Shishu Hospital Medical College Professor Mostak Ahamed, BMA Vice President Dr Monwarul Haque Shamim, Treasurer Dr Ariful Amin, Joint Secretary Dr Md Rabiul Karim, BMA leaders Dr Nur Hossain Bhuyan, Dr Abul Hossain Shaheen, Dr Pronoy Kumar Dutta, Dr Satyajit Roy, Dr Nur Uddin Jahed, Dr Mohammed Saifuddin Saif, Dr Naimul Islam and Dr Saiful Islam Murad addressed the rally.
