A new research volume edited by noted academic Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb - Reimagining the University: Best Practices for Higher Education in Bangladesh - was formally unveiled at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). The unveiling ceremony took place on Monday at the DMK Lecture Gallery, according to a press release.
The event was jointly organised by IUB Library and Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA). The book has been published by University Press Limited (UPL).
At the event, the keynote remark was delivered by Prof. Dr. Syed Saad Andaleeb, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Pennsylvania State University, USA, and former vice-chancellor (VC) of BRAC University.
Speakers included Prof. Dr. M. Tamim, VC, IUB; Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury VC, North South University; Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, president, Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics (BSPUA) and VC, Eastern University; Prof. Dr. Md. Mamun Habib, vice president (Research & nnovation), BSPUA and head of the Department of Management, IUB and Mahrukh Mohiuddin, managing director of UPL.
A panel discussion on the book featured Prof. Dr. Abdur Rob, VC, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT); Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, VC, Daffodil International University; Prof. Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, VC, Southeast University; Professor Dr. Tanvir Ahmed Khan, former VC, Hamdard University; Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, VC, Asia Pacific University; Prof. Dr. Kazi Shahdat Kabir, pro-VC of City University and Prof Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro VC, Green University of Bangladesh.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Dr. Daniel W. Lund, Pro-VC of IUB. Trustees, faculty, officials, and students of IUB attended the programme along with guests from several other universities.
