BPMI kicks off journey to raise technical expertise

Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI), an enterprise to upgrade technical know-how of the country's power sector professionals, began its journey with the inauguration of its maiden training session Saturday.

State minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) Nasrul Hamid inaugurated the training session on 'project formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation,' at Biduyt Bhaban in the city as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Hamid said a full-fledged BPMI would be established on 25 acres of land at Keraniganj having residential facilities aiming to raise technical expertise.

The institute would help officials think 'out of box' to ensure public benefit, said the state minister.

Power secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, BPMI Rector and additional secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) chairman Khaled Mahmood and Power Cell director general Mohammad Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
