BRTA files 102 cases against unfit vehicles in city

A total of 102 cases were filed and Tk 205,000 was realised in fine in a drive conducted on Monday against unfit vehicles in the city.

Two mobile courts under the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) conducted the drive from 9:30am, sources at BRTA said.

Enforcement director of BRTA Nur Muhammad Majumder told the FE that the BRTA authority on Monday conducted a drive against unfit vehicles in Dhaka as part of its regular duty to maintain road safety.

Besides, the mobile courts in Dhaka dumped two unfit buses and fined three drivers on charge of not having legal papers in support of their vehicles, he mentioned.

He also said a similar drive was also conducted in Chattogram city and two cases were filed.

During the drive in Chittagong city, the mobile courts also handed over jail terms to two brokers, he added.
