BSTI cancels CM licences of 13 more products

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Wednesday cancelled Certification Marks (CM) licences of 13 food and other products of 11 companies.
The products are Farm Fresh Ghee produced by Akij Food and Beverage, Shakti and Kitchena fortified soybean oil of Shakti Edible Private Ltd., Chef fortified soybean oil of AK Khan Food and Beverage, Uut (camel) iodised salt of Bismillah Salt Factory, Nazrul iodised salt of Janata Salt Mill, Madina Laccha Semai of JK Food Products, Modern Skin Cream of Modern Cosmetics and Herbal Industries Ltd, GM Skin Cream of GM Chemical Works, Arabian Special Ghee of New Chattala (Pvt) Ltd., Raven Laccha Semai of Raven Food Company, and Khazana Laccha Semai, ghee and chanachur of Khazana Mithai Ltd.
The BSTI has also instructed the producers, suppliers, wholesaler and retailers to refrain from sale and distribution, preservation and advertisement of these products.
The BSTI also asked the authorities concerned to withdraw these products from the market and requested consumers to refrain from buying them.
Earlier, the BSTI had cancelled the licences of 52 food items that have been found substandard after collecting 406 samples of food items from the market and testing them at its laboratory.
However, most of these products got back the permission of marketing and other sales activities after their producers improved the quality of the products.
