Children accompanied by their guardians flocked to the Ekushey Book Fair during the children's hour on Saturday morning.

For the last time this year, the dedicated hours attracted a large number of guardians with their children at the Children's Corner on the Bangla Academy premises and Suhrawardy Udyan where bookstalls were allocated to the houses publishing children's books.

'Shishu Prahar' from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm was dedicated to children on Fridays and Saturdays.

As this was last Saturday of the book fair, children were busy finding their literature, frolicking and taking photographs at the venues dedicated to them both at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan.

They spent their time at 'Sisimpur Show' at Children's Corner with their heartthrobs 'Halum-Ikri-Tuktuki' and other favourite puppets.

The Children's Corner featured 30 publishing houses of children and juvenile literature at Suhrawardy Udyan.

The children entered the fair venue and visited many bookstalls while most of them bought books on comic characters, fairytales, ghost stories and science fictions.

Afsaruzzaman, a service-holder who was accompanying his 5-year-old daughter Tazkia, said "As today (Saturday) was last Shishu Prahar this year, I came to the fair with my daughter. Now my daughter was happy to see a lot of books and beautiful stalls."

But he regretted that he found most of old editions of children's books he bought in previous years.

One hundred and eighty-six books hit the book fair on Saturday. This year around 770 units have been allocated to 499 publishing houses and organisations to sell their books. Besides, 24 pavilions have been also allocated to the publishing houses while 155 bookstalls to 180 little magazines.
