Chinmoy's bail hearing fixed for Jan 2

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 03: Former Isckon leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari's bail hearing in a sedition case was re-fixed for January 2.

The hearing on Chinmoy's bail petition was scheduled to be held in the court of the Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Saiful Islam on Tuesday.

"As the prosecution submitted a time petition and there was no lawyer to represent Chinmoy, the court set a new date on January 2 to hear the bail petition," says Advocate Nazim Uddin, president of the Chattogram Bar Association.

Sawtantra Gauranga Das Brahmachari, organiser of the Sanatani Sammilita Jagaran Jote, said lawyer Subhashi Sharma, who submitted an affidavit on behalf of Chinmoy, remained absent from the court proceedings.

"No lawyer dare to represent Chinmoy before the court in the case," Sawtantra added.
