Committee formed to address waterlogging on Rokeya Sarani

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Metro Rail Project and Dhaka WASA formed a committee on Monday aiming to solve waterlogging problem on Rokeya Sarani in the city.

To this end, a meeting among the three organisations was held at a city hotel with DNCC mayor Md Atiqul Islam in the chair.

The DNCC handed over the road to the Metro Rail Project on condition that the latter will construct the drainage system in the area while implementing the project.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Atiqul said waterlogging during the rainy season causes sufferings to people in the area that must be addressed.

He said the Metro Rail Project must take steps to solve waterlogging in the area immediately. The DNCC is ready to give all types of required support to this end.

He also asked the committee to resolve the problem by May.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DNCC Md. Abdul Hai, Dhaka WASA Director AKM Shahid Uddin and Additional Project Director of the Metro Rail Project Md Abdul Baki, among others, were present on the occasion.
