A court has dismissed the bail petitions filed by the BRTC and Swajan Paribahan bus drivers involved in the accident that resulted in Titumir College student Rajib Hossain losing an arm in Dhaka, reports bdnews24.com.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Noor Nahar Yasmeen rejected the bail petitions on Monday, filed by the lawyers of the two drivers.

Swajan Paribahan driver Md Khorshed was represented by Helal Uddin Patwari while BRTC driver Md Wahed Ali was represented by Mohammad Yunus.

The state was represented by General Registration Officer SI Muqbulur Rahman, who opposed the motion for the bail.

On April 3, Rajib Hossain's arm was crushed between two buses due to reckless driving in the city's Karwan Bazar area.

His right arm was severed above the elbow. Rajib also sustained injuries to the front and back of the head. He is currently on life support at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The two bus drivers were arrested for reckless driving and causing critical injury.

Police received a two-day remand order to question Khurshid and Wahed. The two suspects were brought to court following their remand on April 8. If found guilty under one charge, the two drivers could face up to three years in prison or a Tk 5,000 fine, or both.
