Ctg mayor for TV journos' inclusion in wage board

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 20: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has urged the government to include the journalists of electronic media in the 9th wage board.

The mayor made the plea while speaking at a views exchange meeting with the members of TV unit of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) at the Chattogram Press Club on Friday morning.

He said as per labour law journalists working in television channel are also media persons. So, as all journalists should be included in the wage board.

"Journalists are contributing to the development of the country by unearthing the truth. Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is journalist-friendly leader. So, I hope that she will solve the crisis the journalists are facing now," he opined.

Anindy Tito, chief of TV unit, presided over the meeting while deputy chief of TV unit moderated it.

CUJ president Nazimuddin Shyamol and general secretary Hasan Ferdous, Chattogram Press Club president Ali Abbas and general secretary Chowdhury Farid and president of TV journalist's Association Nasir Uddin Tota, among others, addressed the meeting.
