CU VC gets death threat, files two GDs

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 28: Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury has received a death threat from an overseas call.

He filed two separate GDs (general diary) today with the Hathazari and Khulsi police stations.

In the GDs he said someone from outside the country on his phone number and reviled him in abusive language a few days back. Later, the man threatened that he would be slaughtered.

The other day he received SMS on his mobile phone where he was also threatened to be killed.

Officer in charge of Hathazari police Belal Uddin Md Jahangir and OC of Khulsi police station Sheikh Md Nasir Uddin confirmed report of filing GDs by the CU VC this afternoon.

Professor Iftekhar Uddin also received an unnamed letter threatening on his life in July 2016, Hathazari police said.
