Day-labourer dies, five fall ill taking 'excessive liquor' in city

A day-labourer has died and five others, including two female ones, have fallen ill reportedly after taking excessive liquor in the city's Meradia area, reports UNB.
The deceased is Azizur Rahman alias Tito, 45, while those fell ill are Rosy, Rahela, Momin and Imamul.
Victims' relatives said a group of day-labourers galloped liquor by the house of Ismail of Meradia on December 11 night.
As they started falling ill one after another, they took treatment at a local hospital.
Tito, Rosy, Rahela, Momin, Imamul and Khaleque were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning.
Of them, Titu died around 9am while Khaleque was released from the hospital after treatment, said Minto Miah, brother-in-law of the deceased.
