DB arrests three drug traders in capital

Members of the Detective Brach (DB ) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested three drug traders from Jatrabari area in the capital.

The detectives also recovered 105 kg hashish worth Tk3.1 million (Tk 31 lakh) and a private car used for transporting drugs from their possession.

The arrestees were identified as Mosammat Parvin Begum, (30) Mosammat Jisna Begum and Md Atiq, driver by profession.

A DB team of Lalbagh zone got information that a private car carrying hashish was coming from Kanchpur (Narayanganj) toward its destination Khulna via Jatrabari in the city.

The detectives set up a check post and started searching vehicles crossing Jatrabari area on Wednesday (March 19).

When the car arrived in front of the police check post, one person sitting beside the driver managed to flee.

Upon the arrestees' confession, the detectives recovered the hashish that was kept secretly behind the car. They admitted that they kept the hashish in back of the car.

They said that they were involved in drug trading in the area for a long time. Legal action will be taken against the arrestees and efforts are underway to arrest the other absconding criminals, according to the DMP.
