Rail service on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route has resumed two hours after a fire broke out on the Mohua Commuter Train's power carriage in Gazipur's Sreepur on Thursday, reports bdnews24.com.

Sreepur Station Master Saidur Rahman said, "The rail service on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route resumed at around 01:00 pm when the damaged train was removed."

The power car of the train had caught fire around 10:30am at Sreepur's Satkhamair Rail Station area.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the power car of the Mymensingh-bound Mohua Commuter Train caught fire when it reached Satkhamair. Upon getting the news, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames after an hour of effort.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

The train compartment carrying the generator caught fire. It is assumed that the engine overheated and caused the fire.

The train was taken to the next station and the engine was changed there.
