Dipu for encouraging students to be imbued with patriotism

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has called for developing sense of patriotism among students to build an economically advanced nation, report agencies.

"Students should be taught moral education to build them as worthy citizens side by side with achieving brilliant results in the examinations," she said.

The minister came up with the remarks while speaking at a function at Shariatpur Government College on Friday.

Dr Dipu said action will be taken against the teachers who will be found involved in coaching business.

She urged the teachers to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and invest more time in classrooms for ensuring good academic atmosphere in educational institutions.

Dr Dipu said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has made a remarkable progress in education sector.

"Over the years, enrolment of students at primary and secondary levels has increased to a great extent due to distribution of free textbook among the students at primary and secondary levels," she said.

"Eradication of gender disparity in primary and secondary education has already been acknowledged in different international forums," she added.
