DMP takes steps to ensure security during Ashura

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken adequate security measures on the occasion of the holy Ashura, said DMP Acting Commissioner Md Sarwar on Thursday.

"DMP has taken comprehensive measures to ensure security during the Tajia procession and other programmes of Shia community on the Ashura day (July 06)," he told the media after inspecting security measures with Shia leaders at Imambara, Hosni Dalan in Old Dhaka.

Proper security measures have been taken, so that the Ashura can be observed peacefully and with due religious fervour in different areas across the capital. The main place for observing the Ashura at Imambara will come under close circuit (CC) camera surveillance. He advised the people to use alternative roads to avoid traffic jams during the Tajia procession.

Additional police commissioner (crime and operations) S N Md Nazrul Islam called upon all to follow the police directives, as return 'Rath Yatra' programme of the Hindu community will also be observed on the same day.
