DNCC administrator vows tougher action

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mahmudul Hasan on Monday announced taking tougher action against people responsible for irregularities in birth registration process.
"Strict action will be taken against unscrupulous groups involved in birth registration and other certificate issue related activities," said Mr Hasan.
The DNCC magistrates will drive mobile courts in this regards, he also said.
He came up with the warning at a meeting of a committee formed by the Local Government Division at Nagar Bhaban in the capital's Gulshan-2.
In the meeting, the administrator said DNCC was a service-oriented organization and the officials had been working to provide the services to the citizens at the ward level.
The DNCC officers and employees were striving to fulfil people's expectations towards the interim government, he added.
DNCC provides various services through collecting revenue, while holding tax being a key component. As per the law, residents in newly incorporated areas under DNCC must pay holding tax from the moment they begin living in their flats or houses.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mir Khairul Alam, Chief Engineer Brig Gen Md Moin Uddin and Chief Health Officer Brig. General Imru-al-Quais were present at the meeting, among others.
