Doulat Akter Mala elected ERF president, Kashem gen secy

Doulat Akter Mala, special correspondent of The Financial Express was elected as president of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) on Friday for a two-year term.

She got 114 votes out of total 197 cast by members of the country's largest platform of financial journalists. On the other hand, her contestant Mohammad Refayet Ullah Mirdha, a senior reporter of The Daily Star got 82 votes.

Abul Kashem, special correspondent of The Business Standard, was elected general secretary, collecting 93 votes, while Md Ashraful Alam (101 votes) was elected as the vice-president for 2025-26,.

The election was followed by BGM (Biannual General Meeting) where members all together accepted reports of its general secretary and finance secretary of the just past executive committee.

Aminul Islam (101 votes) elected as the finance secretary.

Others who won the contest are Manik Muntasir (126 votes) as the Assistant General Secretary while Sk Shfayat Hossain elected unopposed as ICT and Training Secretary.

The four elected members are ASM Moinul Haque (127 votes) Ibrahim Hossain Ovi (97 votes), Kayes Mohammad Sohel (107 votes) and Md Jakir Hussain (107 votes).

Hasan Hafiz was the chief election commissioner while Ayub Bhuiyan and Syed Abdal Ahmed were the election commissioners
