DU English dept reunion today

Former Dhaka University (DU) English students are set to get together today (Saturday) for a reunion to share campus memories, reports bdnews24.com.

The annual bash by English Department Alumni Society (EDAS) is organised on the last week of January every year at the Teachers and Students Centre.

Graduates, from as far back as 1940s to as recent as last year, are expected to join the event, said organisers.

Alongside relishing on food and cultural programmes, the alumni will share their memories tied to the campus in groups as well as in speeches at the programme scheduled to start at 3:00pm.

The alumni could register themselves online (edas.com.bd) for Tk 500 until January 15. Alumni can also register on Saturday at the venue. Registration fee for EDAS life members is Tk 600.

The year 2017 marks the 96th anniversary of the founding of the English Department, which has been around since the inception of the Dhaka University in 1921.

The English Department Alumni Society came into being in 1986. Since then, the society has organised the annual bash every year, making the Saturday reunion the 32nd event.
