FE Report
The six-day Dhaka University film festival that began at TSC Auditorium on Monday, ended on Saturday.
"I did not watch such kinds of films in the past", said Camelia, student of Psychology of Dhaka University (DU).
"The fest will increase the interest of the viewers to old Bangla films. The movies are very enjoyable as they have different tastes," Sharier Khan Shad, a member of DU Film Society (DUFS) told the FE.
"It was a tough task for us to attract the young generation to the classic movies as they are reluctant to watch such kinds of films now-a-days," he added.
"The festival bears substantial significance as the varieties of films, especially old and classic ones are screened here," Alal Ahmed, a former organiser of DUFS said.
"People from all walks of life came to watch the films with passion and emotion. Sometimes we could not afford accommodation for the viewers as the auditorium was packed and overcrowded," said Tonmoy Mir, president of DUFS.
Dhaka University Film Society organised the event, marking the International Mother Language Day.
A total of 19 films were screened in the festival. Halda was screened on the concluding day.
