DU holds plant tissue culture, biotechnology confce

A day-long annual conference on "Plant Tissue Culture & Biotechnology" was held at Dhaka University (DU) Botany Department auditorium on Saturday.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman as the chief guest addressed the event organised by Bangladesh Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (BAPTC&B).

President of BAPTC&B Prof Dr Rakha Hari Sarker presided over the inaugural function while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of DU Prof Dr Md Imdadul Hoque and Director General of Bangladesh Sugar-crop Research Institute Dr Md Amzad Hossain addressed it as special guests.

General Secretary of BAPTC&B Prof Dr Mihir Lal Saha gave vote of thanks.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the researchers to play an effective role in development of the country's agriculture sector. He also stressed the need for preservation of bio-diversity and called upon all concerned to work together to reduce the risks in the field of bioscience research.

It may be mentioned that teachers and researchers from different universities and research institutions participated in the conference.
