DU proctor Saifuddin resigns

Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, proctor of Dhaka University (DU), resigned from his position on Sunday. He submitted his resignation to the university's Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor ABM Obaidul Islam.

Prof Saifuddin said, "I have resigned from the post of proctor due to personal reasons. After submitting the resignation letter, I feel relieved. At this moment, I want to take some rest."

After the fall of the Awami League government during the 2024 uprising,

Prof Saifuddin, a faculty member of Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, was appointed as the DU proctor on August 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, DU authority has appointed Associate Professor Md. Israfil Prang of Department of Graphic Design as the new acting proctor, which came into effect on Sunday.

An official order signed by DU Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmad confirmed the information.
