DUCSU election in September, schedule on July 29

The election of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) will be held in the second week of September this year and the schedule will be announced on July 29.

Prof. Dr. Md Zashim Uddin, chief returning officer of DUCSU Election Commission (EC), disclosed the information at a meeting with stakeholders at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Sunday.

Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, DU vice chancellor (VC); Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-VC (Administration); Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-VC (Education); and other DU professors appointed as DUCSU returning officers were present at the meeting.

The DUCSU EC informed at the meeting that six voting centres -- all outside student dormitories -- have been fixed to cast votes fairly.

The centres include Exam Hall of Curzon Hall -- which is not used as a student dormitory -- for the students of Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah Hall, Omar Ekushey Hall, and Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall; Physical Exercise Centre for the students of Jagannath Hall, Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, and Salimullah Muslim Hall; and TSC for the students of Rokeya Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall, and Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall.

Other centres are: DU Club for the students of Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall; Senate Building for the students of Sir A.F. Rahman Hall, Bijoy Ekattor Hall, and Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall; and Udayan School and College for the students of Surja Sen Hall, Kabi Zashim Uddin Hall, and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.
