The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and the Dhaka University unit of the Bangladesh Young Columnists' Forum will jointly organise a book fair in memory of slain Inqilab Moncho spokesperson and July frontliner Sharif Osman Bin Hadi on January 18.
The five-day fair, titled "Shaheed Osman Hadi Memorial Book Fair-2026", will run until January 22, from 9:00am to 9:00pm every day, at the TSC Payra Chattar on the Dhaka University campus.
The book fair will be inaugurated by Omar Bin Hadi, brother of Osman Hadi.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan will attend the event as the chief guest, while DUCSU Vice-President Abu Shadik Kayem and other student leaders will be present as special guests.
The announcement was made at a press conference held on Monday in front of Madhur Canteen. The press conference was addressed by Ashiq Khan, president of the Dhaka University Writers' Forum. General Secretary Abid Hasan Rafi and DUCSU Literature and Culture Secretary Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad were also present.
In his written statement, Ashiq Khan said Shaheed Osman Hadi was not merely an individual but a symbol of resistance and protest in contemporary times. "His uncompromising stance against injustice, Indian hegemony, fascism and repression continues to inspire the younger generation."
