Durga Puja begins with Maha Shashti

Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, began across the country on Sunday amid due religious fervour and festivity.

The five-day celebration began with invocation of Goddess Durga on the day of Maha Shasthi, reports UNB.

This year Durga Puja is being celebrated at 31,566 mandaps across the country.

Draped in new dresses, a large number of devotees irrespective of ages thronged the puja mandaps and offered prayers.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus on Saturday extended greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Durga Puja.
