Eight houses gutted in Sylhet city fire

SYLHET, Aug 07 (UNB): Eight houses burnt down as a fire broke out at Mahajan Polly in the city's Bandar Bazar on Wednesday noon.
On information, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts, said the fire fighters.
The fire ensured from an electric short circuit at around 02:00 pm and engulfed its nearby houses, they added.
Meanwhile, city corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury and former mayor Badar Uddin visited the spot.
