EWU honours its Ekushey Padak winning alumnus Rifat Nabi

Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of East West University and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, honoured Ekushey Padak recipient Rifat Nabi with a token of appreciation on the university campus in the city on Thursday.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at East West University (EWU) has felicitation its alumnus, Rifat Nabi, co-founder of the popular Bengali typing software Avro; for receiving the prestigious Ekushey Padak, reports UNB.
The event took place on Thursday at the university's Manzur Elahi Auditorium and was joined by Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU and former governor of Bangladesh Bank as the chief guest.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU. On the occasion, Rifat Nabi was honoured with a laptop computer as a token of appreciation.
Speaking at the event reminiscing his journey, Rifat Nabi shared that his enthusiasm for programming flourished after enrolling at EWU, which eventually led him to join the Avro team. He emphasised the importance of gaining knowledge and skills in one's area of interest that can be valuable in the future.
Dr Farashuddin expressed his pride in Rifat's achievement, stating that it brought honour to EWU. He also praised the ethical decision of Avro team leader Mehdi Hasan to accept the Ekushey Padak collectively with the team, highlighting the importance of integrity.
Other speakers at the event included Dr Mahin Islam, chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Dr. Anisur Rahman, Proctor of EWU. The programme was attended by the guardians and relatives of Rifat Nabi, the Treasurer, faculty members, alumni members, officers, and students of EWU.
