Five killed in Ctg road accident

CHATTOGRAM Aug 18: At least five people were killed and four others were injured when a pickup van crashed into a parked covered van at the City Gate area in the port city of Chattogram early this morning.
According to the Akber Shah Thana police, the accident occurred around 4:55 am on the day as the pickup, carrying fish traders from Sitakunda to the Fishery Ghat area in the port city, lost control and hit the stationary vehicle on the roadside.
The victims were identified as Akash Das (26), Ajit Das (24), Rony Das (25), Jewel Das (18), and Md Sohag (32). All of the victims were from Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram and worked as fish traders.
The Akber Shah Thana police reported that three of them died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital.
The Duty Officer of Akber Shah Thana police said, "Upon receiving a call, the police and the Fire Service went to the scene and conducted the rescue operation. The bodies are in police custody and necessary legal action will be taken."
