Five women get Best Joyeeta Award in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 09: Five women from Chattogram have been awarded Best Joyeeta Award 2024 in recognition of their exceptional contributions to social development and women empowerment.

The award ceremony was jointly organised by the Department of Women Affairs and the Chattogram District Administration at Chattogram Circuit House on Monday to mark the Begum Rokeya Day. Addressing the event as chief guest, Mohammad Sharif Uddin, additional deputy commissioner (Education and ICT), Chattogram District Administration, handed over crests to the awardees.

Srima Chakma, additional deputy commissioner, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (DB-West), was present as special guest. Atia Chowdhury, deputy director of the Department of Women Affairs in Chattogram, presided over the programme.

The ceremony celebrated the remarkable achievements of these women while highlighting their vital role in promoting social progress and inspiring others in the community.

Among the honorees, Irene Nesa Munmun, founder of Try Women and Youth Development Foundation, was recognized for her extraordinary contribution to social development. Lovely Majumdar was celebrated for her courage in overcoming abuses and starting a new life with determination. Chemon Ara Begum received the award for her role as a successful mother, while Dr. Rowshan Akter was honored for her success in education and her professional career. In the economic sector, Nigar Sharmin was acknowledged for her significant achievements.
