A four-day breast cancer awareness procession 'pink-road' begins today (Tuesday) to cover 40 areas from Teknaf to Tetulia.
Bangladesh Breast Cancer Awareness Forum (BBCAF), a platform of the 47 voluntary and non-profit organisations active in prevention of breast cancer, organises the procession every year in different parts of the country to increase breast cancer awareness among people.
Earlier, the procession was organised in North Bengal, South Bengal, and greater Mymensingh region.
Now, the procession will connect about 40 small and big areas from Teknaf to Tetulia, in a bus decorated in pink. A number of doctors, health workers, specialists, cancer fighters, organisers and cultural workers will be included in the journey.
Local people will also participate in the programme, as meetings and processions will be held and informative leaflets will be distributed at each of the 40 locations.
The procession, beginning with a short opening ceremony at Teknaf Upazila Complex, will then march towards Tetulia. The closing of the voluntary event will be held at Tetulia on Friday (November 1).
BBCAF founder and chief coordinator and a cancer pathologist Prof Dr. Habibullah Talukder Ruskin as well as film director and writer Masihuddin Shaker along with 20 organisers and volunteers are joining the programme.
