Four detained during push-in by India

THAKURGAON, May 23 (BSS): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained four individuals after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed them into Bangladesh at Thakurgaon and Dinajpur borders.

According to officials, a patrol team from BGB 42nd Battalion detained two women near the Bairuchuna border in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district and two men near the Ramchandrapur border in Birol upazila of Dinajpur district on Thursday night.

Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge Pirganj Police Station, confirmed the detentions on Friday afternoon.

BGB sources said the BSF's 63rd Battalion pushed the four people into Bangladesh through separate border points in Thakurgaon and Dinajpur. With help from local residents, BGB personnel apprehended the individuals during the illegal entry from India.

Later, the four individuals were handed over to concerned police stations.

Police confirmed that legal proceedings were initiated and the individuals were presented before the court.
