Govt employees stage demo at Secretariat

The government employees again staged protest at Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Thursday, demanding immediate repeal of the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance 2025. They also threatened to launch a tougher movement, if their demands are not realised.

In the morning, the employees gathered in front of the Cabinet Division and the Ministry of Public Administration buildings. They chanted slogans against the ordinance and marched on the secretariat premises.

Nurul Islam, co-chairman of the 'Sochibaloy Kormochari Oikkya Forum', said, "Our movement will continue until the ordinance is repealed".

The ordinance draft was approved at an advisory council meeting on May 22.
