Senior Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration Dr Mozammel Haque Khan said on Wednesday the government has no plan to reform the existing quota system in the public service, reports UNB.
"At present, 57 per cent posts, including those of BCS, are reserved for different quotas...The government has no plan to reduce the quota," he told journalists at his secretariat office in the city.
Earlier, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette, saying that the vacant posts will be filled up from the merit list, if eligible candidates are not found under any quota.
The secretary said there are around 1.4 million government service holders in the country and many of them are going on retirement every day.
