Govt moves to establish new dept for creating jobs

Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain on Friday said the government has taken an initiative to establish a new employment department to boost job facilities in the country, reports BSS.
"The government has undertaken the initiative to establish a new employment department to enhance facilities in the labour market," he said while paying a call on director general (DG) of International Labour Organisation (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo in Geneva recently.
The adviser sought the ILO's technical support to ensure safe work environment and proper implementation of labour law in the country. He highlighted the government's reform and development initiatives taken for the labour sector.
He mentioned amendment to the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006 and easy registration system of the trade union. The adviser also informed the DG about strengthening of labour inspection.
Sakhawat Hussain elaborately informed the government's initiatives about new employment generation, developing new entrepreneurs, ship-breaking, and ensuring safe work environment in the industrial sector.
