Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday the damaged roads across the country will be repaired within two weeks, reports UNB.

The minister made the remarks while talking to journalists at a view exchange meeting at the secretariat in the city.

Mr Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League, said tender for the work has been floated already and the renovation work will start soon.

Besides, Dhaka-Sylhet and Chittagong-Cox's Bazar four-lane projects will be implemented with the government's own fund. The construction work will start within the tenure of the incumbent government, he said.

The minister said that installation of the second span of the Padma Bridge was delayed for technical reason. It is expected that the second span will be installed by January, he added.

The construction work is going on with the target to open the bridge by December 2018, Quader said.

"However, it might be delayed as we are trying to ensure quality," the minister said.
