The government has decided to set up four police stations and six investigation centres at Purbachal New Town in Dhaka to strengthen law enforcement and ensure security in the fast-growing township, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly established Borkau Police Camp in the RAJUK-developed Purbachal New Town project, the IGP said the launch of the camp marked the formal start of police operations in the township. "The Borkau Police Camp will play an important role in developing Purbachal into a planned, safe and modern city."
The IGP said the Ministry of Home Affairs had already granted administrative approval for establishing the four police stations and six investigation centres in view of the township's growing law-and-order needs. Following the approval, the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) allotted 29.21 acres of land to Bangladesh Police.
