Graft case: ACC takes Salman F Rahman into custody for four days

FE REPORT | February 02, 2026 00:00:00

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken Salman F Rahman, former advisor to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, into its custody for four days to interrogate him in a corruption case.

Muhammad Zainal Abedin, Deputy Director of the ACC, received him from Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka on Sunday, according to a press release issued by the anti-graft body.

On January 20, the ACC official - who is also an investigator in the corruption case, submitted a petition with the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka to get custody of Salman for five days to interrogate him in the case.

Following his petition the Judge, Md Sabbir Faiz, on January 26 granted four days' custody of Salman to the ACC official.

According to the case documents, Salman F Rahman and others misappropriate Tk 1.37 billion (calculated at an exchange rate of BDT 93.00 per US dollar based on the 2022 average rate) by layering through transfer, conversion and movement of funds among themselves after taking a loan in favour of a newly-established entity named Skynet Appearels Limited from the Janata Bank Limited Local Office. The ACC filed the case on November 3, 2025.

A total of 11 corruption cases have been filed so far by the ACC over money laundering and other irregularities - committed by the Beximco Group and its affiliated organisations, and Salman has been made accused in all the cases. These cases involve irregularities of Tk 57.34 billion.
